Webinar Wire Introductions

Where does Webinar Wire come from? Who are the mysterious forces behind the scenes? Is this just some vendor’s thinly veiled marketing operation? Allow me to set your fevered mind at ease.

This article comes to you from your Webinar Wire editor and primary correspondent, Ken Molay. I have been writing The Webinar Blog for close to two years, providing news, reviews, and opinions about web conferencing technology and applications. I run my own webinar services company, Webinar Success, which assists clients with producing and delivering quality web seminars on any technology platform. My background is in software development and marketing, and I have used webinars since 1999 in presentations for lead generation, employee communications, press/analyst relations, and sales. I am not a web conferencing technology vendor or reseller.

The owner of Webinar Wire is Aperio Networks. Aperio also owns and operates Conferencing News, the CN Key People Directory, and EventSpan. I can’t think of any company more dedicated to promoting public awareness and adoption of conferencing technology through news, information, and service offerings.

Aperio’s Conferencing News website has long acted as an industry touchstone for information on all aspects of collaborative communications: web conferencing, audio conferencing, and video conferencing. Several factors prompted Aperio to create a separate focus purely on the web event services market. The past couple of years have seen a series of rapid changes in the market and an explosion in the use of web-based events as a business tool. All forecasts point to continued expansion and growth in the web event services market over the next 5-10 years. That points to a need for more dedicated information and industry coverage for the huge number of new adopters.

When Aperio Networks introduced EventSpan earlier this year, it created a clearinghouse for organizing, finding, and promoting and syndicating web events for business users. But along with the technical capabilities, there was still a need for better community communications and – dare I say it – collaboration on the subject between vendors and users. Aperio contacted me and we agreed to work together on the Webinar Wire to provide this resource for both suppliers and consumers of web events, software, and services.

I hope you like the site, and I hope you’ll participate through comments and submitted articles.
